Lyreco’s Environmental Management System is fully certified to the ISO 14001 International Standard. The UK successfully gained certification to the standard in June 1998 and Ireland followed in May 2003. Lyreco within the WISE zone (Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and England) gained the certification in August 2004. Lyreco was the first national office products supplier to gain ISO14001 in the UK.
The purpose of the system is to create conditions for effective environmental work using a systematic and structured approach. The EMS reflects all requirements laid out in the standard with continuous improvement as the main driver. A programme of targets and objectives to improve our environmental impact is set and regularly reviewed by the Senior Management Team. We carry out regular, comprehensive internal audits and ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken. The integrated system for Dublin and Telford sites contains programmes of targets and objectives, which are regularly reviewed by the Senior Management Team. The improvement programmes cover all elements of transport from Telford and Dublin National Distribution Centres and Head Offices, Regional Depots in the UK and Ireland and waste from all sites.
External Auditing and Verification
Lyreco’s EMS is audited regularly by SGS, who are members of UKAS. We are also audited for Legal Compliance by Coventry City Council environmental Services. During the 2007 environmental audit, Lyreco are very proud to have received zero non-conformances.
