Lyreco

Environmental solutions

Lyreco take a collaborative approach with customers and suppliers. We share our successes and failures on environmental practice and are pleased to offer the benefit of our experiences.

Lyreco can help you reduce, recover and recycle your waste.

Reducing your waste

We actively encourage customers to reduce the amount of waste created by ordering electronically and at less frequent intervals. It is better to order small items together once per week than on lots of separate occasions as this can mean the difference between four or five small boxes and one medium sized one that you can then recycle. Consolidating orders also reduces the amount of road miles your delivery van does each month and helps to reduce carbon emissions. You will also reduce picking notes, delivery notes and consignment notes by up to 80%. Better still, this process is also cost efficient, reducing the time spent processing invoices and raising payments on both customer and supplier side.

Recycle your waste

We actively encourage customers to recycle as much as possible. Lyreco packaging waste tends to be limited to cardboard and some plastics. The cardboard is easy to recycle. If you need help, try your local authority in the absence of a scheme run in house. Revenue can be created from card when collected in large volumes and could be used to offset the cost of buying in bins and promoting recycling schemes in house.

Recycle old cartridges

Recycle cartridgesLyreco offer a toner and inkjet cartridge collection service from our customers and in house users, to ensure as many empty cartridges as possible are recycled. Virgin cartridges are re-manufactured and those that cannot be recycled are melted down and used for other purposes. It’s part of our duty of care to understand what happens to the product we send to the recyclers. If you need further information on this subject contact us here.

Recycle Furniture Packaging

When delivering and assembling furniture goods in the UK and Ireland, Lyreco always take back packaging, leaving customers with a space that is ready to use. Packing in the UK is returned on back-loads through our trunker network and bailed within our National Distribution Centre. All cardboard is then recycled.
