High standards of health, safety and wellbeing are driven by a committee which meets quarterly to review all aspects of health and safety performance. Our Managing Director is a key member.
We employ over 700 staff in Warehousing and Distribution where there is a high risk of accidents arising from incorrect manual handling techniques. Therefore all employees receive manual handling training on their first day at work followed by full training on an Induction course. All Supervisors are qualified Manual Handling Instructors and provide refresher training to their employees annually and more frequently, where necessary.
Approximately 250 people are engaged in office based jobs where incorrect use of display screen equipment could pose a risk to health. Workstation Checklists are completed jointly by the employee and their Supervisor and all employees receive a Guide to DSE booklet. This extends to salespeople working from home.
Over 1,000 Lyreco employees drive on company business. Company cars and delivery vehicles have full service and maintenance arrangements in place and are equipped with an HV jacket and Accident pack. Regular vehicle defect checks are in place for delivery vehicles and Supervisors are RoSPA accredited driver assessors.
Lyreco has membership of an Occupational Health Service through which specialist advice is obtained. ‘Return to Work’ programmes ensure that any special measures required are taken or that adjustments are made in the short or long term to facilitate rehabilitation.
